Well, Josh already did it (and cheated by including Joe Henry, I might add), but I'll hop on that wagon, too. Here are my Top Albums of 2009 so far:
- Buddy & Julie Miller - Written In Chalk (still rips me up every time I hear it)
- John Doe & The Sadies - Country Club (no real explanation why an album of classic country songs should grab me like this, but why deny it?)
- Dave Alvin & The Guilty Women (self-titled)
- Steve Earle - Townes
- Allen Toussaint - The Bright Mississippi (like nothing else I've heard in many moons - jazz? blues? Just classic.)
- Justin Townes Earle - Midnight At The Movies (a chip off the ol' block)
- Sara Watkins (self-titled)
- Tim Easton - Porcupine
- Heartless Bastards - The Mountain
- Mark Olson & Gary Louris - Ready For The Flood
So let me have it -- what did I miss?
