The best of 2009... so far

Well, Josh already did it (and cheated by including Joe Henry, I might add), but I'll hop on that wagon, too.  Here are my Top Albums of 2009 so far:

1. Buddy & Julie Miller - Written In Chalk (still rips me up every time I hear it)
2. John Doe & The Sadies - Country Club (no real explanation why an album of classic country songs should grab me like this, but why deny it?) 
3. Dave Alvin & The Guilty Women (self-titled) 
4. Steve Earle - Townes 
5. Allen Toussaint - The Bright Mississippi (like nothing else I've heard in many moons - jazz? blues? Just classic.) 
6. Justin Townes Earle - Midnight At The Movies (a chip off the ol' block) 
7. Sara Watkins (self-titled) 
8. Tim Easton - Porcupine 
9. Heartless Bastards - The Mountain 
10. Mark Olson & Gary Louris - Ready For The Flood 

Conspicuously absent is the new Todd Snider album (not really doing it for me) and the new Rhett Miller album (haven't really digested it yet).  And, of course, Wilco (The Album) is right around the corner, but I'll withhold final judgment based on just a couple of streamed listens.
