Welcome to the former Houston Ramblings blog, rechristened All Eyes Out For You (I'll let you figure out which of my musical obsessions gets a nod with that somewhat vague title).
I don't suppose my intent with this revamped blog is much different than the old, except I might try to focus a little sharper on the few points of interest that seep into my daily life. As I tumble toward middle age, I do find that the couple of albums or films that take up residency in my brain do so with an uncanny tenaciousness (just ask my wife). As such, I listen to fewer albums but with an almost religious zeal. I really couldn't count the number of times in 2011, for instance, that I listened to Joe Henry's Reverie and Jesse Sykes' Marble Son. And lately, I've been diving much deeper into films than I have in the past.
I don't really know what any of that is attributable to, but I'd rather post something a bit more thoughtful than merely counting the days to a new album release. The Twitterverse serves that need well enough anymore, but I still have the impulse to type more than 140 characters every now and then.
So check back often or just occasionally, and maybe we can obsess over something together. And for good measure, I'll keep all of the old blog content up so you can always refer back to some of my past obsessions.
